One is silver and the other's gold.

On Saturday we went to a friend's birthday BBQ. Dan and I used to be all about the bar and music scene and all of the peeps there were old mutual friends of ours from back in that day. There are just a few others that have taken the leap into parent hood, but for the most part, everybody else is happily childless as are most of the get-togethers. So, since we've had Joaquin we've only been to a handful of events, and don't see them nearly as much as we would like. I'm so happy we made it to this one. I got to chit chat with girlfriends and catch up on gossip, Dan got to have a beer or few with some of the guys and Joaquin loved hamming it up. Joaquin is such a social butterfly, he jumped in to the arms of any uber stylish hipster willing to have him and danced to DJ Quick with a small crowd cheering him on. That's my boy.

On Sunday, Joaquin's girlfriend, Lila, had her second birthday party. Joaquin likes older women. It was a beautiful day with beautiful friends and many little ones running amok. At one point I looked around and realized that all of these friendships were made in the past year and a half since I've had Joaquin. It was such an incredible feeling to know that I have surrounded myself with such great women. Even though we haven't known each other for years and years like my older friends, I know these women support me and my new family. I'm so looking forward to this summer when I can spend more time with them all again at playgroups and maybe even a sewing or crafty kind of class. Only three more weeks!!
